The next morning in the hotel restaurant they had their first full Scottish breakfast: eggs, back bacon, link sausage, buttered toast, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms and tea or coffee. The day’s agenda included a tour of the capital and a trip to the art museum. They had dinner at an Indian restaurant and an early night.

The next day they began their Highland adventure on a tour bus accompanied by a local guide who spoke in the Highland dialect. They often needed translation by Gene who had made this trip several times looking for his ancestors, so he could usually understand what the guide was saying. Most importantly, the itinerary included plenty of time for resting.

The Loch Ness monster eluded them although Mary got everyone’s attention when she shouted, “Oh, look, look.” But when everyone looked where she pointed, she said, “Now it’s gone. I’m sure I saw its head poking up by that rock.”

“And your head is poking into fantasy land,” Albert told her and he and Harry had a good laugh. “Oh yeah. You wouldn’t be laughing if it did swim by.”
